It’s called Last Band Standing and it was released by the friendly people at Thousand Islands Records. We, the friendly people of Dying Scene, are simply chuffed to bring you the new music video for “Not a Phase”, which happens to be a song from the aforementioned album. Here are some words an unnamed member of Strike Twelve was nice enough to type for us regarding “Not a Phase” and its accompanying music video:
“The music video is a compilation of archived videos, photos and flyers from our 20+ years as a band. It was painstakingly pieced together by the one and only Felony Ron of Felony Records. We joke around that when people like our wives first met us, they thought the band was a temporary phase. Now, decades later, we’re still going strong. While being in a band has great potential to be disruptive to the rest our lives, it is in fact the glue that holds us together.”

Fine Dining recorded No Reservations with the legendary Paul Miner (Death By Stereo, Adolescents, New Found Glory, etc.) at his own Buzzbomb Studios. The 12-song album is due out October 28th; you can get it on beautiful colored vinyl and/or CD here. There’s also an ultra-limited “Copper Smoke” color variant that’s exclusive to the Rare Punk Music Facebook Group. And, of course, the album will be on all your favorite streaming platforms as well.
On signing with Felony Records, guitarist Kevin Wells says, “It was a no brainer to go with Felony once we found out they were rising from their ashes. It was a long time coming, but we are stoked to be working with Felony. Ron McIntyre and the whole crew over at Felony really stepped up and I’m glad they made this happen. It’s nice to see smaller labels can still be active and affect change for bands in an ever growing corporate punk rock landscape.”
Fine Dining can be seen live October 7 at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach, October 28 in San Pedro at The Sardine, November 3 in Fullerton with Deviates and Chaser, and November 11 in Oceanside with Bad Cop/Bad Cop and many other bands for the Punk Rock Food Drive.

This week’s first record is from The Yum Yums, a great bubblegum pop-punk band from Norway. They have a new record called Poppin’ Up Again due out next month on Screaming Apple Records. It’s available to pre-order on black wax (limited to 500 copies) right here, and shiny red vinyl (100 copies) right here. Unfortunately, no tracks are streaming yet, but if you haven’t already heard of the Yum Yums just know that they have my ringing endorsement. If you don’t trust my opinion, just check out their last record:
2 hours down I-4 from yours truly, Orlando, Florida’s Suck Brick Kid are releasing a new record on local label Smartpunk Records. If you enjoy newer pop-punk, you’ll wanna pick up a copy of The End is What I Want on one of these pleasantly named color variants: Urinal Cake Vinyl (ltd. 100), and/or Shit ‘n Piss Vinyl (ltd. 400). Check out a few tracks below and pre-order the record here – it’s due out May 17th.
New Jersey pop-punk veterans The Ergs have announced a 2xLP 20th Anniversary reissue of the cult favorite dorkrockcorkrod. LP1 is the original mix, remastered by Justin Perkins (Screeching Weasel, the Riverdales, the Manges, etc.) at Mystery Room Mastering. LP2 is a brand new 20th Anniversary remix of the album, completed by Steve Albini using the original master tapes. This one’s due out June 5th on Don Giovanni Records; not sure how many copies were pressed but the splatter variant looks pretty sweet. Get it here.
Rancid‘s B Sides and C Sides compilation LP seems to be getting its first official repress in a decade, as a random pre-order has popped up on Amazon with a listed street date of May 3rd. Details are nebulous at the moment; aside from the cover art looking pink instead of red, I’ve seen some conflicting information. Amazon and this store both list Pirates Press as the label, but one says its a Double LP and the other does not. There also seems to be some debate about the release date. I rolled the dice and pre-ordered it, surely Bezos won’t disappoint.
The Circle Jerks and Descendents are on tour with the Adolescents right now (no, you did not just step out of a time machine in the mid-80’s). They celebrated the tour’s kickoff with a 7″ on which they cover a few of each others’ classic songs. The Descendents take on “Red Tape”, “I Want Some Skank”, and “Beverly Hills”; the Circle Jerks put their spin on “Kabuki Girl” and “Hope”.
Like a lot of the shows on the tour, literally every variant of this 7″ sold out fast as hell. The (potentially) good new is, you can (potentially) get a copy from the bands’ merch tables on tour. There’s a tour exclusive splatter variant, limited to 500 copies and signed by both bands (it seems these are limited to 20 per show), and it sounds like they’ll both have the red color variant as well. Denver punks SPELLS have a new record coming out on April 11th on Rad Girlfriend, Shield Recordings, and a few other venerable labels. Check out the lead single from Past Our Prime below and pre-order the record on “Snowy White” and/or “Blade Bullet” colored vinyl right here. The first 80 people to pre-order will get a hand numbered alternate cover art print. Cool!
Another leak from big dawg Bezos at Amazon.com – looks like The Dwarves are releasing a new “mini LP” not even 6 months after their latest record Concept Album. Keep It Reel features 7 new songs, 2 remixes, and “All for You” from the band’s aforementioned 2023 LP. Here’s the tracklist:

Pop-punk supergruppe The Phase Problem‘s lineup includes members of Squirtgun, The Murderburgers, City Mouse, and a bunch of other great bands. Their 2023 debut album was 10 years in the making. Luckily the wait for album #2 was not nearly as long; The Power of Positive Thinking is due out next month on Lavasocks Records (US), Brassneck Records (UK), and Stardumb Records (EU). The record features guest appearances from Heather Tabor from the Teen Idols and original Squirtgun frontman Matt Hart, among others. It’s limited to 250 copies on red w/ yellow splatter colored vinyl. Pre-order this shit!
One of the marquee releases featured on the last Record Radar was NOFX‘s new EP Half Album. At the time, all the color variants were sold out, but since then a new variant on “green-gold” colored vinyl (whatever that means) has popped up on some European distros including Green Hell Records, Coretex Records, and Cruise Records. Supposedly this is limited to 500 copies and exclusive to German indie stores. I guess if you missed out on all the others (or you’re sick in the head and collect every NOFX variant) this is a good option for you to import.
Israeli punks Free Sergio new record The Nail in the Coffee is being released on vinyl by our friends at Punk Rock Radar, Cat’s Claw Records and High End Demin Records. Limited to 100 copies on yellow wax, this is a highly recommended pickup for fans of melodic punk with a harder edge (No Fun At All, Satanic Surfers, Belvedere, etc.). There’s even some ska-core sprinkled in here and there. Check the record out below and pre-order it here (US), here (Canada), or here (UK).
Washington State melodic punks Hilltop Rats are back with a new record for the first time in a long time. I’m about halfway through my first listen as I’m typing this and can confidently proclaim this is a god damn banger. Life You Lead is out now on Felony Records, with three bitchin’ color variants; one of those already sold out so quit fucking around and get your copy.
Everyone’s favorite Green Day album Warning is back in print on colored vinyl for the first time in a decade. The new Florescent Green color variant is up for pre-order everywhere but ol’ reliable Amazon is probably the cheapest place you can get it.
Dutch pop-punks Jetlag Jenny have a new 3-song EP called Animal Escapades due out April 19th on White Russian Records. Check out one of the tracks below and click this link to grab the 7″ on green and/or blue colored vinyl (each limited to 125 copies).
Days N Daze are releasing an LP of demos from recording session for their latest album Show Me the Blueprints. That includes five (5) never-before-heard songs. Very cool! The record is streaming now but the physical release won’t be out on SBÄM Records ’til May 31st. Get it here on one (or all three) of the following color variants: Dopamine, Cosmic Green, Dirty Orange. Limited to 200 copies each.
German punks Resolutions are releasing their sophomore album Monster Mirror on May 24th via End Hits Records. The lead single “Drop Dead” is great and the record comes in a pretty sweet looking reflective silver jacket. 3 variants: 50x lobster red, 200x black / white swirl (get both of those here), and 50x dewdrop (get it at the band’s shows).
New York pop-punk band Egghead (whose existence I’m just now being alerted to) released a compilation album called Dumb Songs for Smart People on Mutant Pop Records in 1999. 25 years later, it’s being released on vinyl for the first time thanks to the friendly people at Dead Broke Rekerds and Mom’s Basement Records. And as I finished writing this and went to look for links to pre-order I realized this shit is not up for pre-order lmaooooo. Well, when it is, it’ll be available on red and white color variants. Also probably worth noting these guys are playing some shows with the Ergs and Boris the Sprinkler in July.

Starting us off this week is a new pressing of The Vandals‘ Fear of a Punk Planet, with two snazzy color variants. The pink and black splatter seems to be the Indie Variant, which you can get everywhere, including Amazon. The blue and purple splatter variant can be pre-ordered here. Looks like these should start shipping in November.
Probably one of the most unexpected reissues in a long time, Assorted Jelly Beans’ self-titled debut album is back in print for the first time in 27 years. Get it on red colored vinyl here.
Fat Wreck (and its imprint label) announced a bunch of stuff this week. Up first is a new 7″ from Bad Cop / Bad Cop. Check out one of the two songs below and get the record here.
The Flatliners made a theme song(?) for the San Jose Sharks, and even played it live on opening night in the Shark Tank, which is interesting because I’m pretty sure these guys are Laffs fans. Anyway, “Between Our Teeth” is being released as a 12″ picture disc. It’s $20 but the money goes to charity. Get it here.
Alright, now for the Bottles To The Ground stuff (that’s the Fat imprint label). Fat Mike had a camp fire singalong thing at his mansion with Chuck from the Mad Caddies, Brendan Kelly from the Lawrence Arms and a bunch of other individuals of note. This new 2xLP Campfire at Fatty‘s is a recording of that momentous occasion in mankind’s history. You can buy it here.
I told you about this BTTG label sampler comp a few months ago when it popped up to pre-order on Amazon. Now it’s available on colored vinyl on the label’s webstore so that’s cool.
Fine Dining is an LA punk band with members of some other bands you may know, such as 98 Mute and Eken Is Dead. They’ve got a new record called No Reservations coming out on Felony Records in a couple weeks. We recently premiered the lead single (check it out below). New Found Glory’s From the Screen to Your Stereo Part 2 has been released on vinyl for the first time ever. There’s a grand total of 5(!) color variants, with three available from the Drive Thru Records webstore, as well as a $40(!) Urban Outfitters exclusive on “Baby Blue with Hot Pink Splatter” colored vinyl, and a UK exclusive variant available from Banquet Records.
Providence, Rhode Island’s Structure Sounds are releasing their debut LP this Friday. Your pals at Dying Scene just might be premiering one last single from the record between now and then; stay tuned! For now, head over to Bandcamp and pre-order Light Up Your Sorrow.
Mississippi ska band Flying Raccoon Suit will be releasing their new album Moonflower on November 3rd through Bad Time Records. Check out a few tracks from the record below and go here to pre-order it on one of two color variants (or get both!).
Canadian punk legends NoMeansNo’s 1989 album Wrong is back in print for the first time in 13 years, with a new pressing on Alternative Tentacles. There are three color variants up to pre-order on the label’s webstore, as well as a red and black splatter variant you can get only get by signing up for the “Squid” or “Plague” tiers on Alternative Tentacles’ Patreon.
Last week, I told you about the 20th Anniversary reissue of Rancid’s Indestructible. At the time, there was only one color variant available, a US Indie variant on “Red w/ Black Galaxy” colored vinyl. A new clear variant of the 2xLP has since popped up on the band’s EU merch store. I’m sure there are many more to come, so I’ll keep ya posted as these trickle in.

Hello, and welcome to Record Store Spotlight; a new column here on Dying Scene dedicated to an institution almost as American as apple pie and unfettered capitalism – the record store!
Today, I’ll be putting the spotlight on one of my favorite local stores, the Clearwater Record Shop. Nestled in the middle of my hometown (a city most well known for being home to the Church of Scientology’s headquarters), the Clearwater Record Shop sets itself apart from other record stores with its heavy focus on used music. Rather than relying on distributors to supply new releases, owner Casey Brown has spent years building his inventory one record collection acquisition at a time. The store which spans two interconnected warehouse spaces boasts one of the most expansive selections of used CDs I’ve ever seen. Every time I visit, I leave with a stack of jewel cases a few feet high. It’s easy to get carried away when you’re met with hundreds of bins overflowing with discs, the majority of which are just $3.75 each (or six for $20!).
Sure, it’s hard to beat the ease and convenience of shopping online. But the Clearwater Record Shop goes toe to toe with Discogs prices, and I find that most of the time, they come out ahead. Also, I’ve yet to find a more enjoyable way to kill a few hours on my day off than thumbing through thousands of records and CDs, searching for worthy additions to my collection. It’s a visceral experience that can’t be matched by browsing an online marketplace. Finding a record like The Clash’s Combat Rock for $15, and not having to wait an eternity for USPS to deliver it is icing on the cake. My only complaint about this store is that the selection is literally overwhelming. If you’re on a budget, you might have to get a little picky as your stack grows taller.
In the cooler months (yes, we sometimes have those here in Florida), the Clearwater Record Shop acts as a host to monthly swap meets. Local record collectors and vendors are invited to set up tables in the parking lot to sell their wares. These events serve as a great meeting place for the community, and are a highlight of winter and spring for me. The first time we attended, I grabbed a few LPs, including the Buzzcocks’ A Different Kind of Tension ($10) and Billy Joel’s Songs in the Attic ($5), along with a bunch of dollar bin CDs by the likes of the Ramones, Ozzy, and Megadeth.
It’s always a fun time shopping at this store. Casey is very personable and has created something really special here. The store has a unique, inviting old school atmosphere. The selection is great, and the prices are fair. Your dollar goes a lot further here than it does at most record stores.
If you ever find yourself in the Tampa Bay area, I highly recommend stopping by the Clearwater Record Shop. With two air conditioned warehouses packed to the rafters with nothing but music, music, and even more music, you’re bound to stumble upon something that suits your fancy. Or, if you lack self control like me, you’ll probably leave with a mountain of stuff that suits your fancy.

Felony Records is a long running independent punk label based in Hermosa Beach, California, which has released albums by Chaser, Pour Habit, Another Damn Disappointment, Skipjack, and many other excellent bands. You can stream and purchase their release on Bandcamp.
